Momart Gallery is a contemporary art gallery
The gallery is located in the historic center of the Sassi di Matera, in a particular and suggestive location inside a cave-space.
Its goal is to give life to a cultural redevelopment of the historic place bringing a new sign linked to art, remember the past and live enjoing the present contemporary art.
Momart deals with the enhancement and promotion of emerging Italian and international artists; it has been active for years in the field of contemporary arts and the promotion of urban regeneration activities in the Lucanian area.
Monica Palumbo is the director of Momart Gallery since 2001.
Born in Matera on November 23, 1972, she lives and works in Matera. She attended the Academy of Fine Arts (painting section) in Bari, graduating in 1995.
She has participated in numerous workshops including “Artist’s Manual” in 2013 with Ivan Quaroni at the Circoloquadro in Milan, “No vitrines, no museum, no artists. Just a lot of people” with the artist Rirkrit Tiravanija at the Domus Academy in Venice (2004) and” Vertical work: the stairway of thought ” with Marco Nereo Rotelli in Potenza (2005); she took part in the Oreste project in 2000/2001, an artists’ residence in Montescaglioso.
